For instance, if the present basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000, then the new fitment factors give a base estimation of the salary of Rs 34,650, Rs 37,440, or Rs 51,480. Thus employees would stand to gai2s2 double or even triple salary increments. This move would drastically uplift their economic status and give them relief amidst its rampant inflation.
Increasing Simplicity In Salary Structure
The Eighth Pay Commission has also proposed significant changes in the salary structure for employees from level 1 to level 6. It has been suggested by the government officials and employee organizations that different levels should be merged into one uniform category. Level 2 and Level 3 can be merged into Level 4, while Level 5 and Level 6 can be merged together. Such types of mergers would simplify the entire salary structure, where employees would get salary at an equal level. For this very purpose, the steps will also help in achieving transparency and efficiency in administration.
With The Increase In The DA
The new pay commission would maintain the changes only for basic salary. The government also proposes changing the dearness allowance (DA). This increase in DA would give more relief to the employees on their expenditure. This would mean a direct uplift of the lower-level employees’ living standards. On the other hand, higher-grade employees would definitely see the above increase in DA benefiting them properly as well.
