It Will Be Announced In The Cabinet Meeting
The government is going to soon announce the increase in Dearness Allowance. The final decision on these increases in Dearness Allowance is likely to take place in a cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi. A cabinet meeting is most likely going to happen on Wednesday. Amendments can be introduced on the same day.
How Much DA Increase
There is lots of confusion in the DA hike now. Some say an increase of 2 percent is imminent, while others speak of a possible increase of 3 percent. But one thing seems sure; it will be either of 2 percent or 3 percent. It will depend upon the AICPI data from July 2024 to December 2024. December 2024 AICPI went down by 0.8 points, settling at 143.7, casting doubts that this time DA would increase by 2 percent. Such factors indicate a drastic possibility wherein DA may go up to 55 percent or 56 percent.
Salary Will Increase By This Much
How the enhancement of Dearness Allowances translates into the salary increase is dependent upon the employees’ basic pay. Increase of the Dearness Allowance by 3 percent would mean an increase of Rs 540 in the Dearness Allowance on a minimum basic pay of Rs 18,000, i.e., from Rs 9,540 to Rs 10,080 in Dearness Allowance. On the other hand, if it is 2 percent for January 2025, then the amount on minimum pay of Rs 18,000 will increase by Rs 360.
