Important EPFO Deadline: Do This By March 15 For ELI Scheme Benefits

EPFO: All employees must link UAN with Aadhaar at the earliest. The ELI (Employment Linked Incentive) scheme of EPFO or Employees’ Provident Fund Organization requires the linking of the Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar by March 15, 2025, for anyone to gain from it. EPFO has prolonged this work several times to enable maximum employees to benefit from it.

What Is ELI scheme?

Launched on the Union Budget 2024, the ELI scheme is designed to generate jobs and promote companies to hire fresh employees. There are benefits for both the companies and the employees.

Three Components Of ELI scheme:

  • Scheme A – For each job offered to a fresher graduate, the company will receive a subsidy of 15,000, which is paid in three installments.
  • Scheme B – It is geared for manufacturing sectors wherein fresh recruits will get an incentive of Rs 3,000 per month for 2 years.
  • Scheme C – Incentives would be given to enhance the workforce in various sectors. The rules for this will be issued very soon by the government.

Why Link UAN With Aadhaar?

As per the EPFO, employees can avail of the following benefits by linking UAN (Universal Account Number) with Aadhaar:

  • To view PF passbook online.
  • To file online claims.
  • Directly receive the benefits of government schemes in the bank account.
  • No need to open a new PF account upon changing jobs; the old account will be retained.

How To Link UAN with Aadhaar?

  1. Go to the EPFO portal: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  2. Click on Activate UAN.
  3. Fill in UAN number, Aadhaar number, date of birth, and mobile number.
  4. Verify using OTP.
  5. Set a password and activate UAN.

What Will Happen Once The Deadline Expires?

Failure to link UAN with Aadhaar by March 15, 2025, will mean that one cannot avail of the benefit under the ELI scheme unless the government decides to extend this deadline once again which may very well be on the cards since they have done so on earlier occasions.
