EPFO UAN/ELI Scheme: Important news for those employees and account holders of Employees Provident Fund Organization. The deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar seeding with bank accounts to avail of benefits under the ELI scheme has been extended once again, now employees can complete this work by March 15, 2025.
This information was provided recently in a circular issued by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. Before, the date was February 15, 2025. It needs to be borne in mind that UAN activation and linking of Aadhaar to the bank account is married to avail the ELI scheme. For this reason, if UAN is not activated, the benefits of the ELI scheme cannot be availed of by salaried employees.
What Is ELI Scheme
- The Government of India has proposed a scheme called Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) in the budget for 2024-25 and has targeted about 20 million jobs during the next two years. – Employees need to activate their UAN and link it with the Aadhaar-linked bank account to get cash benefits under this scheme.
- Three types of initiatives come under the ELI scheme, i.e., A, B, and C. The aim of the three is to produce employment and extend financial aid to new employees.
- This scheme has an output of 4.1 crore youths benefiting from 5 years of funding amounting to 2 lakh crores. Thus, the target ELI scheme has is to create over 2 crore jobs in 2 years.
- The UAN linked to Aadhaar activates all members in EPFO. This has to be activated by creating a login in the member portal, through which many facilities can be availed at a single window facility.
- The scheme covers all new workers who earn a salary of up to Rs 15,000 in three installments. This amount will go directly into their bank accounts connected with Aadhaar.
- Both employers and new employees will receive an incentive for 4 years on their EPFO contributions to this scheme. For every new employee, the government will provide Rs 3,000 each month to the employer. This assistance will be available for two years.
- Employers will increase the number of employees, and an employee drawing a salary of up to Rs 1 lakh can also avail of this benefit.
To Activate UAN Number
- First visit the EPFO site epfindia.gov.in.
- Click on For Employees in the Services section.
- Click on Member UAN Online Service OCS OTCP appearing in the second place in the Services column.
- After this click on Activate UAN.
- Fill up the 12 digit UAN and Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, Aadhaar linked mobile number, captcha code etc.
- Click on the declaration check box given below.
- Click on the Get Authorization Pin button.
- Now fill in the OTP and click on the Submit button.
- In this way your UAN has been activated.
