All hopes of an increase in dearness allowance for the central government employees seem to fade. Figures have been revealed regarding this and now they break the anxiety of central government employees before they eagerly expect the dearness allowance before Holi.
Thus Much Was Expected
For revision in dearness allowance in the salary of employees, the central government is expected to announce it before Holi. The increase of dearness allowance was supposed, by the employees, to be in the range of 3-4 percent. According to some mediators, dearness allowance might not be increased for central employees as per the expectations of the employees.
Shock Before 8th Pay Commission
The central government might give a shock to the employees just before the 8th pay commission. All along these months, the employees were hopeful that there would be an increase ranging between 3-4 percent in dearness allowance. But according to the December data of All India Consumer Price Index, the inflation rate has reduced and the news from the media is, that the government will increase dearness allowance just by 2 percent just before Holi.
When Will The DA Increase?
The dearness allowance will be revised twice a year, effective from January and July. Its announcement will be made in March and October during the festivals of Holi and Diwali generally. The figure of 2 percent may be used from the inflation rate to increase the salary of these employees. The announcement can happen before Holi.
DA Would Become 55%
Central employees currently get 53% dearness allowance under the 7th Pay Commission. If the government increases it by a mere 2 percent, then it will go up to 55 percent. However, the final call will be made on this score in the cabinet meeting. This means salary increment, but not really as per expectation of employees.
There Was An Increase Of 3%
Previously, the dearness allowance of central employees in October 2024 was increased by 3 percent. In this way, the dearness allowance of employees crossed the figure of 50 percent with the hike of 4 percent in March, reaching up to 50 percent in July 2024 and. This also helped pensioners.
