Dearness Allowance Update: Increase In DA Of Employees, DA Of Rs 15,900 Increased To 16500

The country is suffering from constant inflation, and it is reflected very well in the people’s lives. Now, Holi is going to come in a few days, and just then came the news from the government about dearness allowance for the government employees. The increased dearness allowance will now rise from Rs 15,900 to 16,500 for central government employees.”

When Will The Dearness Or Cost Of Living Allowances Be Announced-

As per sources, the dearness allowance may increase up to 2 percent this time. The cabinet takes up the decision of January DA by March, but it is then considered to be effective from January itself and the decision of July DA is taken in the month of September-October. The whole DA amendment procedure is geared toward giving increment to the employees according to the ongoing inflation in order to maintain their buying power in this period of inflation, thus achieving the goal toward which it’s aimed.

How Much Is The Dearness Allowance Going To Be At First?

If there is a 2 percent increase in da for the central employees before this Holi, the da of central employees can rise from 53 percent to 55 percent. But, this news is unannounced yet. For now, the dearness allowance final decision would take place in a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

How Much Has The Last Year’s DA Raised-

Now this year when Holi is being celebrated on 14 March 2025, hence the government will soon be announcing the enhanced dearness allowance. Earlier, in October 2024, the DA implemented with effect from July 1, 2024, was increased by 3 percent for central employees. From 50 percent, it moved up to 53 percent at that time. Let us also tell you that this dearness relief will be provided to government pensioners on the same basis as government employees.
