The structure of salary under the 8th Pay Commission: A good piece of news flows in for more than 1 crore employees and pensioners of the Central Government in the country. It also becomes clear with respect to the stand of the government on the 8th Pay Commission. This time in the new pay commission, a new formula will work upward in increasing the salaries of employees and the pensions of pensioners. Let us see what the news says regarding the increase in salary for a government employee under the eighth pay commission.
8th Pay Commission Formula
Increasing salaries and pensions in any pay commission primarily depends on the fitment factor. Fitment is essentially a multiplier used to compute the increase in basic pay of employees. In the case of the Seventh Pay Commission, it was 2.57, owing to which the average rise in salary for employees was 23.55 percent. Media reports state that the same will be between 2.28 to 2.86 for the 8th pay commission, pushing salary hikes expectations between 20 percent to 50 percent for the employees. To illustrate, if the basic salary of an employee now is 18,000 and the fitment is 2.86, he will now be given a revised basic salary of 51,480.
Effective Chances For The 8th Pay Commission
The recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission are expected to be in force beginning January 1, 2026. Almost 50 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners would be its beneficiaries. Along with salaries, different allowances like DA, HRA, TA, etc, medical, education, etc., can also be increased in the 8th Pay Commission.
Importance Of The 8th Pay Commission:
The formation of the 8th Pay Commission is a very important step for government employees, increasing their salary and pension and improving their living standards. This commission should make the necessary changes in the salary structure considering inflation and economic conditions so that employees receive fair compensation for the services rendered.
