The Central Government from time to time makes important announcements for its employees. The latest one was the announcement of the 8th Pay Commission for employees a few weeks ago, while the government has yet to make any official announcement in this regard. The concerned government has lately given some updates. As per this, the government will implement the 8th Pay Commission now in June. There will be a dramatic jump in the pay level of the employees because of this.

How Long Before The Previous Pay Commission Was Held?

As observed, it takes several months before the time limits given for the implementation of the recommendations of the new Pay Commission for the government to form the Pay Commission. Thus the recommendations under the new Pay Commission will on time. Based on the time taken for the last one, an estimate can be made about the prospective delays for the 7th Pay commission and the previous commissions. Looking at the history, after the announcement of the formation of all pay commissions in the past, it took anywhere from 2 to 5 months to constitute any pay commission.

Get To know When The 8th Pay Commissions Would Be Constituted-

The announcement for the establishment of the 8th Pay Commission was dated 17 January 2025. Going by this, the formation of the new Pay Commission takes the same time taken then, during the time of the 7th Pay Commission. It would be a 5-month variation only. Hence, the upper limit for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission should be June 2025. However, on the part of the government, this is not legally binding. In between, under the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission, the fitment factor will be decided, and subsequently, salary recommendations will be made accordingly. Past experience can also provide some estimation for this.

This Is How It Works With Pay Commission-

Generally speaking, every ten years the Central Government sets up a new Pay Commission. Pensions, allowances, and salary will be revised on the basis of inflation and economic condition enabling the government to pass notification for Pay Commission formation. Afterward, the Commission will take into account all facets related to the salaries and pensions of those government employees and submit its recommendations to the Government.

Review Of The Commission’s Recommendations-

After considering the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission, the Government establishes alternative committees to consider the recommendations. These changes can affect any recommendations that need adjustment. The recommendations, though, that have already been examined would be tabled in the Cabinet for approval. After the final sanction from the government, the Central Government issues a notification to put the amended pay scale into effect. The Government is not legally obliged to accept the Pay Commission’s recommendations.
